Technical Review of Freeride FR250R
JD Jetting
JD jetting has a kit for the freeride. This is *very* much a power kit and it will remove low end torque and provide a power hit when twisting the throttle. JD recommends removing the canister to allow for increased air flow.:
- Keep the air box upper part on (AKA canister)
- 125 main jet
- 45 pilot jet
- red needle smooth power
Of course this will need to be modified for your elevation.

Clear float bowl
Clear float bowl is nice to see the fuel level. Not really required, but looks cool.
Order it from ebay for 17USD
. Only problem with this little baby is that the two screws that hold the bowl one are not quite good enough for to seal the plastic bowl.
Carb Venting
The vent hoses get clogged from crap on the trail. They can also suck in water during deep water crossings. Rerouting them up high under the tank will allow you to confidently cross deep mucky water without mucking up the carb.

Carb Float may get hung up on Overflow Pipe
Both the Splat Shop and the Vespa Scooter site report that the float might get hung up on the overflow tube, if either the tube or the float is bent and are intergering with each other.
Here is a picture from the JD jetting web site of how to install the float bowl so the overflow pipe does not get bent. Note how the bowl is tilted from side to side, but also subtly tilted from front to back.
